The Robert Burns Memorial Dinner on January 25 was a spectacular event. Tartan flags were flying, the Palmetto Pipes and Drums led the parades and provided the usual rousing entertainment, the Johnson String Trio played during the dinner, Evelyn Stith sang two beautiful Scottish songs, and toasts were celebrated to the memory of "Rabbie" Burns and to the laddies and lassies. The silent auction raised a record amount of money for scholarships. Meals included "neeps and tatties" that, along with haggis and a variety of entrees, provided marvelous Scottish cuisine. The ending of the program was traditional, holding hands in a circle while singing "Auld Lang Syne."
